"Select" the classics.

I have made a promise to myself not to buy any new clothes until I have thrown out some old ones. Going through my wardrobe, I have found many clothes were purchased from "Select Fashions". I have come across some classic looks that I can still wear, like skinny white shorts for the summer and floaty summer dresses. I am an absolute fashion freak but I do not always have the money to support this habit. I recall I use to always find reasonably priced, stylish clothes at Select. When I moved back to Leicester I was disappointed not to find a Select store in Leicester. My prayers have been answered on many levels. I have recently been accepted on their affiliate programme, which allows me to combine my love of fashion and writing. Also a new Select store has been opened in Leicester recently, how perfect!

Select really is a store where you can shop on a budget without compromising on style and quality. For the holiday season there are summer tops being sold for a little as £2.50. If you want a decent pair of flip flops but do not want them sanded up on the beach, at Select they are being sold for as little as £4, no compromise on glamour, wear and tear. Have a glance at www.selectfashion.co.uk.

Please note information about sales etc is always subject to change following publication on the blog. These details were correct at the time of publication.

Tropical Summer

Over the summer period make the best of the sale at Tropic skincare. As well as the products I mentioned in the previous post, here are some popular items that my customers have requested in skincare and make- up.   Tamanu Balm- Great for preventing sun burn and mosquito bites.   Mineral Foundation- Much lighter than heavy based liquid foundations at this time of year with extra sweating from the sun.   Gel Eye Liner- When I tried a sample of this on my hand I had to do a lot of scrubbing to get it off, now I am a convert to the product, my mum has purchased one too. Great to avoid make up melt down, no need for touch ups throughout the day.     Mineral Eye Shadow- For when you want to glam it up on a summer evening check out this lightweight product, check the website for marked down prices.   To find out more about these and other sun glamming and survival products please check out my website   www.tropicsk...

2016 in Pictures- The High's within the Low's!

I mentioned in my last post what an adventure 2016 was for me. Among the toxins that were in my life ,on the creative side I’ve actually surprised myself at how much I achieved. This is a positive step towards starting the new year. It is easy to feel disheartened about the resolutions that never came into play the previous year, to the point that we do not bother making any the following year. I’ve learnt we should always look for the positives and not dwell on the negatives. It is actually the better level of success with my writing that made me realise that this is the path I would like to follow professionally and that the end of certain chapters in my life were a sign that writing is my new chapter. Here is a list (where possible with pictures) of some of my 2016 writing highlights: De Monfort university bookshop stocked one of my books, the anthology I wrote for young adults. I was invited to Moat Community College to conduct a writing workshop as part of ...

Picture Perfect Bank Holiday.

The  long weekend just gone was both enjoyable and productive. I could really get use to working just two days. On Sunday I felt like a celeb yummy mummy when my daughter and I met up with my friend and talented photographer, Tony Lyons. I keep meaning to get some up to date pictures for the blog and Tony was more than happy to help.  I viewed samples of Tony's work before and was really impressed and thought he would be perfect. The new profile picture was actually taken at work when Tony did a photography workshop for Learning at Work Day. A very popular photographer in demand on that day. I am not a natural poser and really do not like having my picture taken but Tony really put me at ease. An extra challenge was also keeping a very active four year old entertained and well behaved. Madam turned out to be a photographers apprentice when she was given a small camera to play around with. The photo shoot was fun and creative experimenting with different po...
