A Character Building Start to The New Year

Within the first few days  of the year  my strength of character has already been tested. I have decided to break my silence and put some more candid posts on my blog. Throughout my 2012 blog posts  I only scratched the surface on certain issues I feel strongly about, mainly my ongoing legal battle with my ex. I am now approaching my fifth year of fighting this battle and am I taking  a stand that I am proud of. This experience has shaped my output of writing but I have always made it my personal catharsis. I now feel the time has come to go public about my inner turmoil.  This is not just my legal battle but there are many women in similar positions to me, who's voices are not being heard and these so called authorities are playing games with the lives of children. In this following poem I am really giving a  short introduction of a fathers relationship with his daughter in her infant years, where the need for paying back an ex takes over a child's needs.

Nowhere To Be Found.

When she goes to sleep at night,
tucked up in bed,
you are nowhere to be found.
As you sip your cheap cider,
plot your next vendetta,
do you care if she has been fed?

You assert your rights,
but do not have a clue,
a heart of stone,
Do you know how to love?
When she took her first crawl,
you were nowhere to be found.

I lifted her when she fell,
dried the tears from her eyes,
helped her stand tall.
My unconditional sacrifices
of my own sleep and nourishment
this is called real love.

An agenda of vengeance,
she can see it in your eyes.
You may fool those in power,
but she can sense your insincerity.
The girl will grow into a woman,
as you remain nowhere to be found.

Tropical Summer

Over the summer period make the best of the sale at Tropic skincare. As well as the products I mentioned in the previous post, here are some popular items that my customers have requested in skincare and make- up.   Tamanu Balm- Great for preventing sun burn and mosquito bites.   Mineral Foundation- Much lighter than heavy based liquid foundations at this time of year with extra sweating from the sun.   Gel Eye Liner- When I tried a sample of this on my hand I had to do a lot of scrubbing to get it off, now I am a convert to the product, my mum has purchased one too. Great to avoid make up melt down, no need for touch ups throughout the day.     Mineral Eye Shadow- For when you want to glam it up on a summer evening check out this lightweight product, check the website for marked down prices.   To find out more about these and other sun glamming and survival products please check out my website   www.tropicsk...

Picture Perfect Bank Holiday.

The  long weekend just gone was both enjoyable and productive. I could really get use to working just two days. On Sunday I felt like a celeb yummy mummy when my daughter and I met up with my friend and talented photographer, Tony Lyons. I keep meaning to get some up to date pictures for the blog and Tony was more than happy to help.  I viewed samples of Tony's work before and was really impressed and thought he would be perfect. The new profile picture was actually taken at work when Tony did a photography workshop for Learning at Work Day. A very popular photographer in demand on that day. I am not a natural poser and really do not like having my picture taken but Tony really put me at ease. An extra challenge was also keeping a very active four year old entertained and well behaved. Madam turned out to be a photographers apprentice when she was given a small camera to play around with. The photo shoot was fun and creative experimenting with different po...

Post Christmas Recovery Kit!

To say this year is a festive season like no other is a massive understatement! Without a pandemic the festive period for separated families can be a time of doom and gloom. It is with this in mind I decided to release my current book " The Post-Divorce Recovery Kit" just before Christmas.  In 2014 I published " The Divorce Toolbox" which focused more on the legal proceedings around divorce, aimed at people who were at the decision-making stage of divorce or going through court proceedings. My current book looks more closely at ways of supporting children through the process. I have included a chapter about " The difficult firsts" where I have shared my story about Christmas away from my daughter for the first time.  As the festive period continues there is now the pandemic to factor in. If there are still difficulty with the non-resident parent, it will be even harder to make decisions and reach an agreement. I have also included a section about work...
